Yes friends, that's right...Frozen Yogurt (fro-yo) and fruit sorbet made at home, just the way you want it!
We have been testing out our "Dole - Yonanas" machine and LOVING it! Instead of eating ice cream with loads of sugar, paying for the lower-calorie alternatives, or going without - we enjoy a yummy treat as much as we want! :D
Now you may wonder why we don't just use a blender, freeze the mix in a pan, and then scoop it out? Well, it doesn't have the same texture (hard vs. creamy/soft) and its more fun to be able to mix up the ingredients as they are going into the chute. Our toddler loves to watch us make this treat! Anyway, let's get to the fun!
What you need:
- Yonanas machine (there are a few different models...we use the Elite!)
- Fruit, partially thawed (i.e. berries, mango, pineapple, bananas)
- Sweetener of choice (or without), such as agave, maple, or stevia
- Frozen Greek or regular yogurt into cubes, partially thawed
Starting with a handful of fruit, let it fall into the chute, use the plunger to apply pressure downward, and then put a little sweetener before adding more fruit to the chute. If you decide to use yogurt cubes, add 1 or 2 as desired. Repeat watch the soft-serve come out of the bottom!
I like to mix at the end, just to make sure the flavors are incorporated throughout. Enjoy!!
